Kenya’s President William Ruto has to deny rumors of deteriorating health, as outward signs and history ofsuspicion show the prognosis for his health is most likely poor. There is a concern Ruto will have to step down from office this way, with risk to undermine the country‘s stability.
President William Ruto has responded to speculation about his health, explaining that his recent weight loss is a result of irregular eating patterns due to the pressure of campaigning for the 2022 election. This comes ahead of the leader explaining that top officials, including Deputy Rigathi Gachagua and Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi, were overwhelmed with work, to the point of losing weight.
President William Ruto says there is no cause for alarm over his weight loss that recently became visible to a section of Kenyans, leading to speculation on social media. Addressing the media at State House, Nairobi, Dr Ruto on Sunday, May 14th said he shed some weight after resuming his fitness, dieting and wellness programme, which had experienced challenges during the 2022 election campaign.
The grueling vote hunt against a combined Azimio La Umoja force of Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta, according to him, affected his eating and meal plans — sometimes finding himself over-eating.
“I had an original fit that ran amok the last one-and-a-half to two years. We went into elections and you know when you have elections there is a lot of pressure, sometimes you take out the pressure on food,” he told the joint media briefing.
Kenya Kwanza often comes under fire for unpopular decisions, including the heavy taxes and levies and Finance Bill 2023.
Without giving details, the Kenya Kwanza leader said he had shed some kilos as he prepared to face the challenges of running a country that he said was left in a mess by his predecessor, Mr Kenyatta.
In 2020 William Samoei Ruto was out of the country for his blood transfusion. He was shown on photo with a woman in a nurse uniform seeming to perform a procedure on Ruto, while four men look on.
That photo has been posted elsewhere on Facebook, with the similar claim that it’s evidence that Ruto was “flown out of the country for medical reasons secretly”.
After this, Ruto reportedly returned from a four-day business and family trip to Dubai on November 21, 2020. However there is currently no official information available about any health problems that President William Ruto has had in the past or present.
A lot of speculations about his health have been made and this has led to a lot of confusion. A blogger Robert Ala, who is also a journalist, posted on his Twitter account in November 2020 that Ruto is suffering from Mild leukemia. According to him, it has been a secret for long and now it has come out.
Mild Leukemia is an acute leukemia, with cancer cells multiplying quickly. In chronic leukemia, the disease progresses slowly and early symptoms may be very mild. Leukemia is also classified according to the type of cell. Leukemia involving myeloid cells is called myelogenous leukemia.
After the last year elections, RLI’s analysts supposed that the situation is likely to deteriorate because this election seems to be the last chance for this rally loser Raila Odinga who ran in fifth for the President. It is quite possible the rumors of Ruto’s disease have a political context, therefore. If so then one of the political forces will soon call into question the ability of Kenya’s president to carry out his duties in office.
