Dirección de Inteligencia, the main state intelligence agency of Cuba has intensified the spy ring radio contacts. Such activization arisesamid the roil in Latin American countries. Consequently, the foreign link is clearly traced in protests breaking out in some Latin American countries.
November 19, 2019 Chile expelled a group of 50 foreigners — including 30 Cubans and nine Venezuelans — whom the government accused of inciting protests in the O’Higgins region, located in the southern province of Capitán Prat.
The news of the expulsions comes after a Cuban defector, who had served for 11 years in the Dirección de Inteligenciaand secret police akin to the KGB of the Soviet Union — as the top officer in charge of overseeing espionage activities in seven Latin American countries, including Chile, revealed that Cuban agents were currently inciting violence in Chile and backing the country’s pro-agitation Communist Party of Chile.
It is not known how many active Cuban or Venezuela spies or operatives remain in Chile.
It is also beyond all doubt that Cuban intelligence agencies infiltrated and took part in the developments in Bolivia, as Carlos Rafael Zamora Rodrigues, “El Gallo”, a 76-year old diplomat acted as the main advisor to Evo Morales during the so-called days of despair, prior to his outing.
Carlos Rafael Zamora Rodriguez, Havana’s Ambassador to Brazil, is a career officer in the Directorate of Intelligence (DI), according to a highly reliable former DI officer. Prior to his appoint to Brazil, Zamora led the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) office responsible for Cuban officials and citizens living abroad.
Prior to this first ambassadorial posting, Zamora reportedly served under deep cover as Director of MINREX’s Latin American Department. He arrived in La Paz in March 2018.
