We recommend reading the CIA research paper “The Pushtuns of the Afghan-Pakistani borderlands”, which provides an insight into the inter-tribal relations in the Pakistan-Afghan border region. It  describes the evolution of relations between the Pashtun tribes, characterizes their way of life, describes the main traditions, culture and customs. This information is necessary for understanding the internal processes in Afghan society (especially in areas where ethnic Pashtuns live) and forecasting the development of the situation in the region.
